If you wish to transfer a domain from one registrar company to another, you’ll need to go through a few security procedures. One of them is getting a special EPP code from the present registrar company – as long as you are the registrant, since the code is sent to the owner's email and nobody else can see it. You will need to provide this code to the new domain registrar, otherwise they will not be able to start the domain transfer process. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy/paste the right code. As an extra security measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be changed regularly. Certain registrar companies refer to this code as an Auth key, a domain password or a domain secret as well.
