In case you notice a major increase in the online traffic to your website and if after you look into the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from areas around the world or from other web servers, your site is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. Such pieces of software go through random websites aiming to log in to their admin area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments under every article where this kind of an option is made available. However, this is something rather popular lately, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you can block them, so the bots won't be able to access your website in any way. Of course, you may block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your Internet site.
IP Blocking in Cloud Hosting
If you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, which is incorporated into our in-house built Hepsia CP. Through a pretty simple interface, you'll be able to restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do that is to log within to your Control Panel, to check out the IP Blocking section, to pick a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You'll not need to do anything complicated if you want to block an entire network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the same exact section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with only a mouse click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to solve the challenge with unwanted traffic very efficiently. It features an IP blocking tool in which you may add IP addresses with just a few clicks. All domains and subdomains you have in the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just need to choose the one you need and then type the IP address which has to be blocked. If you would like to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you simply need to type the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. This will block all 254 addresses, so you will not have to type in them by hand. Considering that all the IPs which you add in this section will be listed, you may very easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button related to the particular IP.
